Conn 34H Symphony Eb Alto Trombone — New Old Stock (Circa 2002)
In stock now at Music Junction Camberwell — available for play-testing in-store.
A Rare "Time Capsule" Find
The Conn 34H is a cornerstone of the American brass tradition—a serious orchestral instrument designed for the symphonic and chamber repertoire where the alto trombone’s distinct, vocal voice is essential.
This specific instrument is a genuine "Time Capsule" find. It originates from the final era of the original UMI (United Musical Instruments) Australian distributorship, circa 2002. Held in climate-controlled storage and never sold or played in service, it represents a unique opportunity to own a brand-new, American-made professional alto from a celebrated production window.
Designed for the Tenor Player
What truly sets the 34H apart is its tenor-matched slide position layout. Designed to mimic the relative positions of a Bb tenor trombone, it makes the transition from tenor to alto significantly easier. For the principal trombonist or the tertiary student, this design removes the primary hurdle of "re-learning" slide placements on a smaller horn.
Superior Specifications & Tone
• 7” Yellow Brass Bell: Engineered for the resonance and projection needed to carry over a symphony orchestra while maintaining a focused, vocal character.
• Dual-Bore Handslide: The .491”/.500” bore provides an open, responsive feel with the ease of articulation required for demanding technical passages.
• Factory-Matched Pair: The slide and bell receiver carry matching factory assembly stamps (D 9644), ensuring the internal tapers and mechanical tolerances are perfectly aligned.
