HQ Oblong 4/4 Violin Case, Rose Gold

The colour look so lovely - love the quality as well!

My 12 year old went up to a 4/4 size violin so we decided to invest in a really good quality case that will hopefully last her a very long time. We considered the Gewa but my daughter chose the HQ polycarbonate oblong case mostly because she liked the rose gold colour. She’s been using the case for about 3 weeks now and really likes it though finds it a little bit heavy when she takes it to school as she has to carry her school backpack on her back and can’t put the violin case on her back. I asked if she wanted a lighter case as this is a bit heavy for a 12 year old when carried without using the backpack straps (fine for an adult though) but she loves it and doesn’t want to change.
The case is very sturdy and looks like it will protect the violin very well. Exterior seems to be prone to light scratching but that’s standard for polycarbonate. It’s a lovely colour though a bit more coppery in person with a brushed metal finish. Violin fits nicely, is well cushioned and the neck doesn’t touch the bottom of the case which is good. Has space for 2 bows and the bow holders work fine. Removable accessories bag is a good size and a great addition. The strap for holding the shoulder rest is fantastic to keep the it from banging into the neck of the violin, really like this feature. Backpack straps are nicely padded and very comfortable to use however we find the clips are a bit weak. This may be why it includes extra wires to help secure the straps to the case. The ability to stand it up on side or bottom with handles on both side and end is excellent. The included external pocket for sheet music is a bit small and doesn’t fit much, certainly doesn’t fit a Rondofile or AMEB texts. We have removed it as she doesn’t find it useful. We also haven’t used the combo locks as she found it too time consuming to use.
Overall we are pretty happy with the case though I’m doubtful the backpack clips will hold up for long even though she only uses the straps once a week to go to Saturday orchestra rehearsals and otherwise carries the case by the handle during the school week. Rest of the case seems great and it’s a pretty good price for what you get when compared to more expensive brands.
