Serenade Melancolique was composed by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky in Febryary 1875. It was the first work that he wrote for violin and orchestra. It was written a few months after he finished composing his Piano Concerto No 1 in B flat minor. Interestingly both works are in B flat minor.
